Intellectual Property Initiatives

The original technologies and ideas generated by our employees, our intellectual property, serve as a driving force behind the creation and delivery of new value. By actively securing rights and protecting our know-how, we enhance the uniqueness and added value of our products.
In addition, we aim to further strengthen our brand value by ensuring that the quality of our products and services is recognized under consistent trademarks across global markets.

Number of Patents Held by the ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ Group and Countries with ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ Trademark Protection

We are focusing not only on obtaining patents and design rights in our primary markets of Japan, Europe, and the United States, but also in countries such as China and India, where we anticipate future expansion of product sales, aiming to build a global network of patents and design rights. Furthermore, to demonstrate the consistent quality of our products and services worldwide, we use the same company and product names across all countries and regions, working to enhance brand recognition and value. Expanding the coverage of these intellectual property rights helps eliminate counterfeit products and ensures that customers operating globally can choose our brand with confidence anywhere, contributing to ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ’s sustainable and stable growth.

For the Creation and Delivery of New Value

A critical aspect that differentiates our products is our ability to optimize the performance of individual components, utilize proprietary expertise in their integration and application, and provide unique functionalities through our in-house planning, development, and manufacturing processes, supported by our advanced technological and design capabilities. Our proprietary functions and performance, along with the underlying technologies, expertise, and design, are treated as valuable intellectual property. By actively securing rights and managing confidentiality, we aim to prevent imitation, avoid unnecessary competition, maintain the uniqueness of our products, and contribute to enhancing corporate value.
For example, in RadiForce and ColorEdge monitors, a built-in calibration sensor ensures precise stabilization of display brightness, gradation characteristics, and color accuracy. This is achieved through several proprietary mechanisms, including a design that securely houses the sensor within a narrow bezel, advanced algorithms that accurately estimate and correct central screen characteristics based on measurements from the screen edges, and a housing construction that minimizes visual noise for an improved viewing experience.
Our comprehensive in-house capabilities, including development, design, manufacturing, and service, form the foundation for generating intellectual property. In recent years, we have proactively advanced the development and deployment of AI-related technologies and have strengthened our patent portfolio in this area since 2017. To support the creation of such intellectual property and ensure effective rights management and confidentiality, we have implemented a variety of measures.

Encouraging Creation of Patents and Designs

We have and manage an incentive program for employee inventions to encourage staff to secure patents and designs.
We also have an internal awards program for inventors who have secured patents or rights to designs that have contributed to our business.

Patent & Design Creation, Rights Acquisition, and Confidentiality

To ensure comprehensive identification of newly developed core technologies, related technologies, and innovative designs during the product development process, we have integrated patent and design searches as well as application reviews into our workflow. For technologies and designs selected for patent application, we determine appropriate filing countries based on relevant industry fields and characteristics and establish an optimal network of patents and design rights to secure robust, strategically advantageous intellectual property.
Regarding quality control methods, production technologies, and other know-how that contribute to product quality, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency, where public disclosure through patent applications may not offer a competitive advantage, we classify this as proprietary know-how. We manage this information with strict confidentiality and acknowledge the contributions of our employees in developing these capabilities.

Respecting Third-Party Intellectual Property Rights

Protecting ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ's Intellectual Property Rights

In the event that a third party is found to have infringed upon ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ's intellectual property rights, we will seek appropriate measures from that party to be taken to protect these rights.
