Nomura Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. is a comprehensive real estate company engaged in a wide range of businesses, including condominiums, office buildings, and urban development. In August 2025, the company relocated its headquarters to BLUE FRONT SHIBAURA TOWER S in Shibaura, Minato-ku, Tokyo. As part of the office renewal accompanying the move, 1,152 ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ monitors across five models were introduced. We spoke with the project lead about the background, selection criteria, and results of the deployment.

Transforming the Aesthetic and Feel of the Space

For many years, we selected monitors primarily based on cost, with little emphasis on quality, and chose black models as the standard. As a result, rows of black monitors gave the office a heavy visual impression. We also faced challenges with image quality, including dark screens and limited color reproduction, which made content difficult to see comfortably.

When planning the headquarters relocation, we took the opportunity to rethink our approach and carefully evaluate new monitor options. We reviewed products from multiple manufacturers and visited various office environments for reference. One of the most memorable experiences was visiting a newly completed office at a major company. The space featured neatly aligned white ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ monitors, creating a bright and well-balanced atmosphere that felt both cohesive and motivating for employees. Bright office design is increasingly the norm, and we felt that white monitors naturally align with this trend.

Before full implementation, we created a trial office where employees could freely use monitors from several manufacturers placed side by side. The outcome was clear. Workstations with ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ monitors were consistently chosen first. Through everyday use, employees quickly recognized the value of the design, image quality, and highly adjustable stands.

Another important factor was the opportunity to visit ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ’s production facilities in advance and see firsthand how each unit is carefully manufactured. Knowing that the products are made in Japan with a high level of quality gave us a strong sense of confidence.

Five Models to Match Different Work Requirements

USB Type-C compatibility was the most important factor in our selection process. Being able to provide power and video through a single cable offers clear convenience, while also keeping cabling organized and maintaining a clean, uncluttered look in both meeting rooms and workspaces.

We introduced four monitor sizes for office use, 37.5", 27", 24.1", and 23.8", all equipped with USB Type-C. Our company follows a flexible workstyle without assigned seating, allowing employees to choose where they work based on their tasks. By offering a range of sizes, we created an environment where employees can choose the monitor that best fits their work.

The 37.5" ultrawide FlexScan EV3895 is mainly used for accounting work, where multiple applications need to be viewed at once on a single screen. The 27" FlexScan EV2720S was introduced for CAD-based design work, and its large display has since been well received across departments for the comfort and efficiency it provides.

The 24.1" FlexScan EV2485 and 23.8" FlexScan FLT account for the largest number of units and are used for general office work. For these models, we prioritized space efficiency to ensure sufficient desk space across the office. We also value the wide height adjustment range of ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ monitor stands, which allows each employee to position the screen according to their needs. Previously, limited adjustability and side placement of PCs often led to poor posture. With ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ monitors, we can create a vertical dual-screen setup by placing a laptop beneath the monitor. This reduces strain on the neck and supports a more ergonomic working posture.

In a co-creation space designed to encourage interaction among employees and customers, we introduced the 55" 4K chart table monitor, DuraVision MDU5501WT, to support more dynamic discussions. In our work, we frequently use maps, drawings, and aerial imagery, and this monitor allows us to easily zoom and navigate content on screen. We expect this to lead to more active and productive discussions going forward.

Since the introduction, we have received very positive feedback from employees. Many appreciate the convenience of connecting with a single USB Type-C cable, as well as the clean and organized appearance of their desks. Design, usability, and overall comfort have been highly rated. 

Large displays also make it easier to share and review information, and they are increasingly used as tools for communication within teams. We also hear that eye strain has been reduced, which reinforces how closely visibility and work efficiency are connected.

Sustainability a Key Factor in the Decision

The Nomura Real Estate Group has established procurement guidelines that emphasize fair business practices and environmental responsibility among suppliers. Within this framework, ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ monitors were a strong fit, as they use a high proportion of recycled plastic and offer excellent energy efficiency.

The FlexScan FLT, which makes up the largest portion of our deployment, features a standard power consumption of just 6W, placing it among the most energy-efficient monitors in its class. Having such highly efficient models deployed at scale contributes directly to reducing overall energy consumption across the office.

We also requested delivery using consolidated packaging, where multiple monitor units and stands are packed together. This improves loading efficiency and helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with transportation. These initiatives align closely with our sustainability policies, and ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ’s proactive approach to reducing environmental impact meets the expectations we place on our suppliers.

Future Outlook

Following the relocation to the new headquarters, communication across departments and segments has become more active than before, leading to the creation of new ideas and projects. Further strengthening communication and advancing projects remain key priorities for us. ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ monitors contribute as one element of this environment by supporting ease of work, facilitating communication, and brightening the overall workspace.
